Four suspects were arrested after a security guard was shot and killed outside a bar in Anaheim.
On June 22, Orange County sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting outside of 99 Bottles & Cocktails on the 8900 block of Katella Avenue.
The victim, Salvador “Sal” Ramirez, 48, was found outside the sports lounge with a gunshot wound to his head.
He was transported to the hospital where his family said he was placed on life support before he died from his injuries the next day. The shooter had fled the scene on foot before authorities arrived.
Following an investigation, on Aug. 13, four suspects were arrested in the murder case:
- Rene Jose Juarez Jr., 37
- Robert Allen Duncan, 43
- David Anthony Ortega, 44
- Max Maestas, 54
All suspects are residents of Los Angeles. Further details, including a motive behind the killing or how the victim and suspects were known to each other, were not released.
Family members described Ramirez as a devoted husband and father of five children.
“Sal was so much more than this tragedy,” Ramirez’s sister-in-law wrote on a GoFundMe page. “He was a husband, a loving father, a protector, and a friend. He deserved to come home that night — and he deserves to be remembered for the love, strength, and safety he gave so freely to others.”
The case remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at 714-647-7000.
