Drilling resumes in November.
Paramount+ has revealed that season 2 of Landman will premiere on Nov. 16. The Taylor Sheridan drama starring Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, and Ali Larter is from Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions.
Season 2 will feature several new stars, including Sam Elliott in an unknown role and Stefania Spampinato as Garcia‘s wife.
Season 1 ended on Jan. 12 with cartel boss Gallino (Garcia) sparing Tommy Norris (Thornton) from a torturous end. Tommy’s boss Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) also died from a heart attack.
Despite high levels of enthusiasm over Thornton’s portrayal of Monty’s crisis manager on the oil fields, Landman was inexplicably snubbed by the Emmys this year. But the show doesn’t need award recognition to become a hit: it had 35 million global streaming viewers for the premiere episode and set new records for Paramount+.
Landman is based on the 11-part podcast “Boomtown” from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly. Co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman is executive produced by Sheridan, Wallace, David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Thornton, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Stephen Kay. Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch for Imperative Entertainment, and J.K. Nickell and Megan Creydt for Texas Monthly also executive produce. Tommy Turtle serves as co-executive producer.
