Change is coming to Amazon MGM Studios in the Nordics.
Emilia Widstrand is replacing Karin Lindström as head of Nordic originals, with the latter set to take a role outside of Amazon.
In the past few minutes, Tara Erer, head of Northern Europe Originals, has shared an internal message with staff outlining the change.
“Our dear Karin Lindström has decided to stand down her role as head of Nordic Originals at Amazon MGM Studios to seek another opportunity outside of Amazon,” she wrote. “Karin joined our team in 2021 and very much helped to build it from scratch. Her strong creative instincts, her incredible leadership and unyielding positive attitude and energy has made her an incredible team member.”
Erer thanked Lindström for her “continued passion and expertise on pioneering on behalf of Amazon MGM Studios.” She attributed shows such as LOL: Last One Laughing, Roast on the Coast and upcoming shows Snake Killer and Vaka to Lindström.
Erer said she was “thrilled to announce Emilia Widstrand will take over Karin’s role and lead the Nordic Amazon MGM Studios team.”
Widstrand has been with Amazon for just under four years and has worked on shows such as Blindspot and Vaka.
“Emilia’s creative vision and leadership will enable our Nordics slate to thrive,” wrote Erer.
The region is a crucial one to Amazon MGM, which has reshuffled the pack in Europe a fair bit over the past couple of years. Last year, it split Europe in two clusters, with “emerging” territories such as Benelux, the CEE and the Nordics getting new investment, while funding for Africa and MENA was slashed.
