After eight years of dating, Cristiano Ronaldo just got engaged to his girlfriend, Georgina Rodríguez.
Is it a coincidence that the engagement coincides with Ronaldo’s new contract to continue playing in Saudi Arabia, where he and Georgina have been living together for two years even though technically it’s illegal to live together there unless you’re married? Unclear. But none of that matters, really, because the eyes of the world are looking not at Saudi Arabia’s laws nor at Ronaldo’s footwork but at Rodríguez’s hand, where now dwells, no exaggeration, the biggest freaking engagement ring I’ve ever seen.
Look at this thing. It’s an enormous oval-cut stone set in platinum with what looks like an oval on each side, if not more gems along the band. In the photo, Georgina shows off the jewelry alongside a long French-tipped manicure in bed with her now-fiancé, who also has his hand out. Very sweet. And sparkly.

According to an expert who spoke with Page Six, the ring looks to be about 50 carats total (People has it at a more conservative 37) and could be worth $2-5 million dollars, dwarfing Kim Kardashian’s baubles, which previously held the record (at least in my mind) for Damn, That’s a Big-Ass Ring.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez met in early 2017 when Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant at Gucci, per People, and share one child together, a son named Angel dos Santos Aveiro who was born in 2022. Their journey has been documented in a Netflix series, I Am Georgina, showing the other side of the superstar couple’s life together.
