The New York Film Festival has announced its Spotlight lineup, which will include the world premieres of Apple docuseries Mr. Scorsese, Ben Stiller‘s Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost and Ronan Day-Lewis’s Anemone.

The 12 titles in the Spotlight section are described by fest organizers as “significant and anticipated features.” The strand is designed to complement the main slate, which was announced last week. This year’s NYFF opens September 24 with Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt and runs through October 13.

Two Richard Linklater-directed films, Blue Moon and Nouvelle Vague, will be part of Spotlight. Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere will also screen as the Spotlight Gala selection.

Mr. Scorsese is a five-part series portrait of Martin Scorsese, told through his own words and new interviews with collaborators and family and directed by Rebecca Miller. Stiller & Meara is directed by Ben Stiller, who explores his roots in the lives and legacy of his parents, comedy icons Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. Anemone is also a family affair. Ronan Day-Lewis’s film features the acting return of his father, Daniel Day-Lewis.

Documentaries Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk, directed by Sepideh Farsi and featuring photojournalist Fatma Hassouna’s work in Gaza, and The Perfect Neighbor, director Geeta Gandbhir’s reconstruction of a racially motivated crime in Florida, are also on tap.

Other Spotlight selections include La Grazia, directed by Paolo Sorrentino; Scarlet, an animated fantasy film by Mamoru Hosoda; and Cannes Un Certain Regard standout Pillion by Harry Lighton.

Two programs of short films will be featured. Spotlight Shorts includes new work by filmmakers previously featured in NYFF and New Directors/New Films. The roster includes Radu Muntean’s Index, Gabriel Abrantes’s Arguments in Favor of Love, Abdellah Taïa’s Cairo Streets, and Alice Diop’s Fragments for Venus. New York Shorts features films by directors with ties to New York: Bingham Bryant’s Doomed and Famous, Eve Liu’s Nervous Energy, Mary Rose McClain’s February Omen, Nathan Silver’s Carol & Joy, and David Cardoza’s Turtle Sandwich.
