The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has lifted the Boil Water Notice for Granada Hills and Porter Ranch after testing confirmed the water meets state safety standards.

Customers who were impacted may now resume normal use of tap water. However, LADWP recommends flushing household and business plumbing for five minutes to clear stagnant water. Affected customers will receive a $20 bill credit for water flushing.

“We thank our customers for their cooperation and patience as we worked to complete our repairs and restore safe, high-quality drinking water to the Granada Hills and Porter Ranch communities,” LADWP CEO and Chief Engineer Janisse Quiñones said in a statement. “We are pleased to have worked with our regulators to ensure water quality is restored and we are able to get the all-clear.

With the notice lifted, bottled and recycled water distribution sites at O’Melveny Park, Holleigh Bernson Memorial Park, and the intersection of Tampa Avenue and Sesnon Boulevard will close, effective immediately.

The notice was issued on Aug. 6 following a valve failure during pump station repairs.

The incident occurred when a valve controlling water flow from a 10-million-gallon tank failed to reopen during routine maintenance, disrupting water service to the area.

The advisory impacted residents north of Rinaldi Street or the 118 Freeway, whichever is further, and west of Balboa Boulevard.
