Monday night brought Houston Astros fans a lot of reasons to celebrate.

The game comes first, and the Astros squeaked out a 7-6 win over the Boston Red Sox despite a late rally. But the Astros and their fans were also celebrating two noteworthy returns.

Third baseman Alex Bregman was returning as a member of the Red Sox, and he homered in his first at-bat. But the Astros’ new third baseman Carlos Correa, is back in Houston for good, and he finally got to play his first home game since being traded on July 31.

For Correa, coming back to Houston isn’t just about playing in front of those fans, however. It’s about joining forces one teammate in particular.

“The best part about being back with the Astros is being able to play with Jose Altuve again,” Correa said, per Chandler Rome of The Athletic.

Altuve and Correa were teammates from the time Correa debuted in 2015 until he left for the Minnesota Twins in free agency. They won a World Series together in 2015, and racked up a combined seven All-Star appearances during that stretch.

Correa played a nice supporting role in the win, hitting an RBI single and coming around to score in the third inning against Boston ace Garrett Crochet. Altuve went 1-for-4 as well.

The dynamic duo no longer will share the middle of the infield, as Correa has moved from shortstop to third to accommodate rising star Jeremy Peña. But the reunion is still awfully sweet for two of the game’s very best.
