President Donald Trump has nominated Dr. E.J. Antoni to be the new Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Trump said in a post on Truth Social Monday night.
“I am pleased to announce that I am nominating Highly Respected Economist, Dr. E.J. Antoni, as the next Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics,” Trump said in the post. “Our Economy is booming, and E.J. will ensure that the Numbers released are HONEST and ACCURATE.”
The announcement comes after last weeks jobs report resulted in the firing of the previous BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer.
Trump said in a post last week that the number released by McEntarfer, a Biden appointee has led the BLS since 2024, were “RIGGED in order to make the Republicans, and ME, look bad.”
Antoni is listed as the Chief Economist, and Richard Aster Fellow, in The Heritage Foundation‘s Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget, on the Heritage Foundation’s website.
The Heritage Foundation is a prominent conservative think tank in the United States that promotes public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.
