FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Jail records show that an 18-year-old from Florida was charged with over 20 counts of electronic solicitation of a child in Alabama last week.
According to Franklin County Jail records, Jackson Robert Bryant, 18, was arrested for electronic solicitation of a child.
Court records say that on or about June 1-June 14, Bryant reportedly used a “computer communication system allowing the input, output, examination or transfer of computer programs from one computer to another, obscene material.”
The documents say Bryant is accused of masturbating with his hand in several videos, which depict in whole or in part, actual or simulated “nudity, sexual conduct, or sadomasochistic abuse to a child… for the purpose of initiating or engaging in sexual intercourse, sodomy, or to engage in a sexual performance, obscene sexual performance, or sexual conduct for his or her benefit to a child.”
A judge set Bryant’s bond at $100,000.
He has a preliminary hearing set for September 11; however, Bryant, by and through his attorney, filed a motion on August 8 to reduce bond and grant him permission to return to Florida.
The motion states:
- Bryant is economically unable to make the existing bond
- He has no prior criminal history
- He is a resident of Florida, where his family owns a home and business
- He is 18 and homeschooled and will be a senior in the upcoming school year
- Allowing Bryant to go home will allow him to complete his education and begin treatment
- Bryant has a “stable family support who is willing and able to make sure he appears in court and follows the requirements of his bond and in fact, Mr. Bryant was working in a remote area of Alaska for the summer when the charges were brought and his family had him leave Alaska and report to Franklin County as quickly as possible when they learned of these charges in accordance with the agreement between counsel and the chief investigating officer.”
- He is not a flight risk and has no passport
- He has already completed an evaluation by a clinical therapist who counsels and evaluates adults and children with sexual offenses & has set up a treatment plan to include monitoring any internet activity and no access to social media
- Reducing Bryant’s bond would not pose a threat to the community.
The motion asks that Bryant’s bond be reduced to $50,000. A judge has yet to approve or deny the request.
