Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals are heading into the 2025 NFL season looking for redemption. After a disappointing season last year, the Bengals want to get back to being a legitimate Super Bowl contender in the AFC.
Just a few years back, Cincinnati made a run to the big game. While the outcome was a loss to the Los Angeles Rams, everyone expected Burrow and company to be back.
Since that loss, the Bengals have lost in the AFC Championship Game in 2022, missed the playoffs in 2023, and missed the playoffs in 2024.
There is no question that Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks currently playing in the NFL. Last season, he put together a year that would have been worthy of winning the MVP award. He probably would have won the award if his team had a better record.

In the 17 games he played during the regular season, Burrow completed 70.6 percent of his pass attempts for 4,918 yards, 43 touchdowns, and just nine interceptions. He also ran for 201 yards and two scores.
With the 2025 season right around the corner, The Athletic recently revealed a legendary comparison for Burrow from a head coach. That head coach believes that Burrow compares to Joe Montana.
“He is the closest thing to Joe Montana that I have seen,” a head coach said. “That is about as big a compliment I can give you as a quarterback.”
They also revealed a defensive coach’s opinion of the Cincinnati superstar.
“He’s a stud, particularly with those freaks he has out there at receiver,” a defensive coach said. “I respect the arm talent, don’t get me wrong, but you have to be able to fool him presnap, and you have to be able to rush with four and get there.”
Burrow has truly become a top-three NFL quarterback. Even though the Bengals’ success as a team has not shown off his talent, his individual numbers last season along speak for themselves.

Earning a comparison to Montana, who is widely respected as one of the best of all-time, is nothing to take lightly. Burrow has earned that comparison.
Hopefully, he will be able to lead Cincinnati back to contention this season. He is doing everything in his power to make that a reality, but he needs his team to step up round him.
