SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Are your dad jokes real knee slappers? If so, don’t miss your chance to be the envy of corny joke tellers nationwide.
National Tell a Joke Day is August 16, 2025, and on that day, you can call the Laff Line at 1-844-LOL-HOUR during Laffy Hour from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern for your chance to make comedians laugh out loud.
Actor, comedian, and producer Damon Wayans, Jr., and his “Laff Squad,” consisting of comedians from Zanies Chicago, are partnering with the iconic candy brand Laffy Taffy to give select callers the chance to make him laugh.
Jokes may not exceed 100 characters in length and must follow the traditional Laffy Taffy style: set up and punchline (around 50 characters each).
This is not a one-way comedy offer – Wayans will also share his best one-liners with callers.
“I like to consider myself a dad joke expert, so I’m excited to hear some fresh material,” said Wayans. “Just like Laffy Taffy, I’m all about sharing a laugh with my family – the punnier, the better. Do you have what it takes to make me laugh? If so, give me a ring!”
The candy brand said its mini Laffy Taffy wrappers were improved to make them easier to open without sticking or shredding, a change they said in a news release was long-requested by consumers of the fruit-flavored sticky treat. Giving them an easier-to-open product with fresh new jokes.
“With the help of Damon Wayans Jr., the Laffy Taffy Laff Line is the perfect way to connect with our community, give them the chance to test their comedic chops, and bring more laughter to families of all generations,” Ashley Incarnato, Senior Marketing Director at Ferrara Candy Company, said.
Original jokes submitted by Laff Line callers will be considered for print on Laffy Taffy wrappers for nationwide distribution. Jokes will be judged on humor, originality, creativity, and relevance to brand values. The top 100 jokes will be printed on wrappers, and winners will receive a custom bag of Laffy Taffy Mini Bars featuring an exclusive first look at fellow winners’ one-liners.
