As production on The Batman Part II prepares to get underway next year, James Gunn is battling more online fan speculation.
The DC Studios boss took to social media on Friday to dispel a rumor that the Dark Knight’s orphaned sidekick Robin (aka Dick Grayson) will make his debut in Matt Reeves‘ upcoming sequel.
“Guys please stop believing this nonsense. I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about The Batman 2,” wrote Gunn on Threads.
“Anything you’ve heard about that movie is made up or a guess,” wrote Gunn in a previous post. “No one in the world knows anything about the concept for the story except four people.”
Premiering last month in theaters, Gunn’s Superman launched a new DCU with the ‘Gods and Monsters’ phase, separate from Reeves’ ‘Batman Epic Crime Saga’, which includes The Batman (2022) and last year’s HBO Max series spin-off The Penguin.
After Gunn previously defended the delays on The Batman Part II, which is set to premiere on Oct. 1, 2027 following a year-long postponement, Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin revealed in June that they finished the script for the sequel.
In a letter to Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders this week, the studio confirmed that production will begin on The Batman Part II in the spring.
