Talent manager Brandon Blackstock, the ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson, has passed away. He was 48 years old.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a representative told People magazine. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
Blackstock’s death comes hours after Clarkson revealed she was postponing her Las Vegas residency because of Blackstock’s health.
“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” she wrote on Instagram. “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
Blackstock and Clarkson have two children together, an 11-year-old daughter named River and a 9-year-old son named Remington. He has two other children, Seth and Savannah, from a previous relationship.
The couple were first romantically linked in 2012 and they married in 2013. Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The divorce was finalized in 2022.
Blackstock, who was the former stepson of Reba McEntire, was Blake Shelton’s manager and became Clarkson’s after they got married.
Blackstock is survived by his four children and grandson; his father, Narvel Blackstock; and three siblings.
