Dean Cain will soon be sworn in as an agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
That’s what he told Fox News’s Jesse Watters on his show “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Wednesday night.
Cain, who famously played Superman in the ’90s television series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” revealed to Watters that he’ll be sworn in as an ICE agent “ASAP.”
“Jesse, this is all your fault by the way,” he laughed. “I put out a recruitment video yesterday. I’m actually a deputy sheriff, a sworn deputy sheriff, and a reserve police officer. I wasn’t part of ICE, but once I put that out there and you put a little blurb on your show, it went crazy. So now I’ve spoken with some officials over at ICE, and I will be sworn in as an ICE agent.”
Cain has been sworn in as a reserve police officer for the St. Anthony Police Department and the Pocatello Police Department, which are both in Idaho. He’s also a reserve deputy sheriff with the Frederick County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, the actor posted a video on Instagram encouraging people to join the agency.
This comes as ICE is currently on a hiring spree, with the Trump Administration wanting to hire 10,000 new officers. To help with this, they’re offering incentives like a signing bonus up to $50,000, up to $60,000 in student loan repayment and 25% premium pay.
The agency is even reaching out to retired law enforcement officers. On Wednesday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced ICE was removing age limits “for new applicants so even more patriots will qualify to join ICE.”
Prior to this, the age limit was 40 years old.
Cain is currently 59 years old.
While ICE agents often wear masks during immigration raids, Cain said he wouldn’t.
“I’ve just outed myself completely right now,” he revealed to Watters. “And as much as my parents want me to wear a mask because they fear for it, no chance in hell.”
Cain, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump, made his immigration views known last month when he slammed James Gunn, the director of the new “Superman” movie, for referring to the Man of Steel as an immigrant.
“For Superman, it was truth, justice, and the American way. Well, they dropped that. They let (that trademark on that) go. They came up with truth, justice and a better tomorrow,” he told TMZ. “Changing beloved characters, I don’t think, is a great idea. I think if you want to create a new character, go ahead and do that, but for me, Superman has always stood for truth, justice and the American way, and the American way is immigrant-friendly, tremendously immigrant-friendly, but there are rules.”
So far, it’s not known when Cain will be officially sworn in as an ICE agent. KTLA 5 has reached out to the DHS and is awaiting a response.
