A seasoned female BBC presenter was the subject of a complaint after allegedly showing a junior colleague an unwanted intimate image of an unknown man.
The Sun newspaper reported that the star, who features among the BBC’s highest-paid presenters, was told by bosses to apologize after the so-called “dick pic” incident.
The Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid did not identify the BBC presenter, but reported that the junior female member of staff was “horrified” and tearful after being shown the NSFW image.
Two BBC insiders confirmed the identity of the presenter to Deadline. One of these insiders also disclosed details about the incident, alleging that it happened during a discussion between female employees about unsolicited nude images.
A BBC spokesperson said: “While we do not comment on individual cases, we take all complaints about conduct at work extremely seriously.”
The development comes after a series of male BBC stars have been accused of misconduct, sparking a workplace culture review at the UK national broadcaster.
Published in April, the Change Associates review found that a small number of employees continue to abuse their power at the corporation. The BBC said the review was a “line in the sand.” BBC Chair Samir Shah recently told press that “several people” have been dismissed in the past few weeks over their conduct.
