EXCLUSIVE: Christian Biafora has just been promoted to General Sales Manager, Theatrical Distribution at Amazon MGM Studios.

He’ll report to Head of Theatrical Distribution, Kevin Wilson.

Biafora’s near two decades career in distribution spans Walt Disney, STX Entertainment, and United Artists Releasing, working with Wilson and the late Distribution Boss Erik Lomis at the latter.

Upcoming for Amazon MGM Studios for the rest of this year is Preparation for the Next Life on Sept. 5, Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt on Oct. 10, Sarah’s Oil on Nov. 7,

Below is Wilson’s note to staff about Biafora:

Hi everyone,

I’m excited to announce that Christian Biafora has been promoted to General Sales Manager, Theatrical Distribution. He will report directly to me.

Christian joined MGM in 2017 as Vice President of Domestic Distribution for Orion Pictures. In 2019, he became a key member of United Artists Releasing—a joint venture between MGM and Annapurna—where he worked as Vice President of Theatrical Sales alongside Erik Lomis and me. Over the past several years, Christian has played a critical role in the domestic releases of a diverse slate of films, including Child’s Play, The Addams Family, No Time to Die, House of Gucci, Licorice Pizza, Creed III, Saltburn, American Fiction, The Boys in the Boat, The Beekeeper, Challengers, and The Accountant 2.

Prior to joining MGM, Christian served as Director of Sales at STX Entertainment, where he was one of the company’s first sales executives. He was instrumental in the releases of high-profile titles such as The Gift, Bad Moms, and Molly’s Game. Christian began his career at Walt Disney Studios, starting as an intern in the in-theatre marketing group in 2008 before moving into a full-time theatrical sales manager role in 2011. While at Disney, he contributed to the releases of numerous blockbuster films, including The Avengers, Frozen, Iron Man 3, Monsters University, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

With nearly two decades of experience in theatrical distribution and a deep understanding of the exhibition landscape, Christian brings strategic vision, operational excellence, and trusted industry relationships to his new role. Please join me in congratulating him.

Kevin
