K-pop sensation BTS have been forced to deny any involvement in a Michael Jackson tribute album following a report in a Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper.

The Irish Sun on Sunday reported over the weekend that County Westmeath-based music studio, Grouse Lodge Studios, was attempting to record songs originally written for the King of Pop.

Jackson spent time recording at Grouse Lodge in 2006, collaborating with the likes of Will.i.am on music that ultimately never saw the light of day.

Grouse is planning to revisit these tracks, with studio boss Paddy Dunning telling The Irish Sun on Sunday that he had signed up superstars including BTS.

Dunning said: “The sessions started last year and we have already had the Korean boy band BTS over with us in Grouse Lodge, recording one of the songs.”

On Tuesday, however, BTS moved to deny the claim, while Dunning’s quote has now disappeared from the online version of The Irish Sun on Sunday story.

On social media, BTS said: “We would like to address recent media reports concerning BTS’ alleged participation in a Michael Jackson tribute album.

“BTS has neither visited Grouse Lodge Studio in Ireland nor taken part in any recording sessions at the location for the mentioned project. The group is not involved in the tribute album in any capacity. We are continuing to take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of inaccurate information.”

Deadline has contacted Grouse Lodge Studios for comment.
