BOAZ, Ala. (WHNT) — The parent company of an auto parts manufacturer closing its doors in a little over a month says the decision was due to economic reasons.

According to the ADC “warn list,” Federal-Mogul Motorparts LLC in Boaz is scheduled to close its doors on September 25. The company itself is MOOG parts, which was bought by Federal-Mogul Corporation from Cooper Industries in the 1990s.

Tenneco’s website says it then acquired Federal-Mogul in October 2018.

You can read the statement from Tenneco about the closure announcement.

“We are facing an extremely challenging economic environment. Despite our best efforts, we have made the difficult decision to close our manufacturing operations in Boaz, Alabama. This is not a decision we made lightly, as this affects people we highly value.

All eligible affected employees are being offered severance and outplacement assistance.”

Regards,Tenneco Communications

The Boaz site is one of five U.S. manufacturing sites for DRiV:

  • Boaz, AL – Chassis
  • Glasgow, KY – Friction
  • Maryville, MO – Chassis
  • Skokie, IL – Sealing
  • Smithville, TN – Friction

The company also has 13 other manufacturing sites across the globe.
