A video of “Americana” star Sydney Sweeney perfecting her shooting skills at a gun range resurfaced online and quickly went viral after she was revealed to be a registered Republican amid outrage over her American Eagle ad.
Sweeney, 27, has been in the crosshairs of online social justice warriors who said her ill-fated July advertisement had eugenics undertones, emphasizing her “good jeans” — all while largely focusing on her bust.
Soon after, it was revealed that the Emmy-nominated actress has been registered with the Republican Party of Florida in Monroe County since June 2024, according to public voter records viewed by The Post.
Now, a 2019 clip of the actress masterfully blasting a gun at a shooting range for an unspecified movie role is making its rounds online.
In the video, Sweeney expertly takes out multiple dummy targets in just a few seconds, not so much as flinching while the force of each shot rippled up her arms.
The bombshell, who shot to fame after starring in HBO’s “Euphoria,” hasn’t publicly responded to the advertisement’s controversy, but made her first appearance at a screening of her upcoming film “Americana” on Monday.
At the viewing, Sweeney was heckled by a disgruntled fan who shouted that she should “Stop the ad, that is being racist!” TMZ reported.
Sweeney didn’t respond and disappeared into her vehicle.
American Eagle defended its advertisement, but removed the video from its social media accounts.
“‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans. Her Jeans. Her Story. We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way,” the statement said.
Sweeney has received a flood of support from online influencers and politicians alike, including the president himself.
“If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic,” President Trump lauded immediately after being told about Sweeney’s political affiliation.
Trump later elaborated on TruthSocial while adding a jab at multi-Grammy award winner Taylor Swift, who he has ceaselessly attacked since she endorsed Kamala Harris for the 2024 Presidential Election.
“Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the ‘HOTTEST’ ad out there. It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are ‘flying off the shelves.’ Go get ‘em Sydney!” Trump wrote.
“Or just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT. The tide has seriously turned — Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Swift made an appearance at the 2025 Super Bowl to cheer on her longtime boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce before the team was trounced by the Philadelphia Eagles. She was reportedly booed by Eagles fans when shown on the jumbotron.
The Post reached out to Taran Tactical Innovations, the gun store that provided the firearms used in Sweeney’s gun range practice, for comment, but didn’t immediately hear back.
