PHOENIX — The westbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway off-ramp at 67th Avenue will be closing for two months.
The ramp is scheduled to close on Monday at 11:30 p.m., the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) announced.
Advice for drivers dealing with westbound Loop 101 closure at 67th Avenue
Drivers are advised to exit westbound Loop 101 at 59th Avenue and take westbound Frontage Road to enter 67th Avenue while the ramp is closed.
The closure is expected to lift in early October.
What are the reasons for the westbound Loop 101 ramp closure?
The closure is for reconstruction for part of the freeway widening project west of Interstate 17.
The $140 million project, which started in September 2024, will widen Loop 101 between I-17 and 75th Avenue.
The entire project’s duration will take about 2.5 years, according to ADOT.
Eventually, one lane of traffic will be added in each direction over the 6 miles between Interstate 17 in Phoenix and 75th Avenue in Glendale.
Several bridges will be widened, pavements will be surfaced, and new freeway lighting will be added as part of the project as well.
