Last year, Penske Racing’s Ryan Blaney led 201 of the 350 laps to become the inaugural winner of this race. William Byron, Chase Elliott, Christopher Bell, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. rounded out the top five, with Stenhouse’s result being particularly impressive since he started the race back in 35th. Kyle Larson was on the pole last year, but finished the race 34th.
On Sunday, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Chase Briscoe will lead the field to the green flag after running a 23.004-second lap in qualifying. Byron starts second while Larson starts third. Austin Cindric, Blaney’s Penske teammate, starts fourth, while Brad Keselowski, who is in must-win territory if he wants to make the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, will start fifth.
Chase Elliott currently leads the regular season point standings, but playoff points would have Denny Hamlin in front if the playoffs began today. The biggest gap between playoff and regular season standings belongs to Shane Van Gisbergen, who is fourth in the playoff standings thanks to his road course wins but just 27th in the regular season standings.
