Ada Valley Meat Company issued a recall for over 1,000 pounds of frozen ground beef that may be contaminated with metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said Tuesday.

The frozen ready-to-eat ground beef item was packed on May 28, 2025, and May 30, 2025, according to the recall. The product is a 20-lb. cardboard box case containing four 5-lb. plastic bags of “Ada Valley FULLY COOKED GROUND BEEF.”

The packaging dates are May 28, 2025, with lot code 35156, and May 30, 2025, with lot code 35157, as indicated on the label.

The products were shipped to distributors in California, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

“FSIS is concerned that some products may be in institutional freezers. Institutions who have purchased these products are urged not to serve these products,” the recall said. “These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”

The recall warns that the products could have a different establishment number on the label “due to further distribution and processing by other establishments.” It urges consumers to review product and label information. The establishment number “EST. 10031” is inside the USDA mark of inspection.

No injuries or sicknesses have been reported. The company, based in Ada, Michigan, voluntarily issued the recall after receiving a consumer complaint of metal found in the uncooked food.
