Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals are looking for redemption during the upcoming 2025 NFL season. After missing the playoffs last year and struggling through a frustrating year, the team is hungry.

Despite the rough all-around year as a team, Burrow played the best season of his career. He was unstoppable week in and week out. In fact, there are many who believe that he should have won the NFL MVP award.

Unfortunately, it’s hard for a player to win the MVP award when their team doesn’t make the playoffs.

Heading into the 2025 season, it is clear that Burrow is out to prove a point. Following the team making a run to the Super Bowl back in the 2021 NFL season, the Bengals have lost in the AFC Championship Game in 2022 and missed the playoffs in each of the last two years.

Ahead of the upcoming campaign, Burrow has spoken out with a strong message. His comments should worry the rest of the league.

“I think this is the best I’m throwing it in several years, so I’m excited about that,” Burrow said. “Excited about where our team’s at, too.”

Why should those comments worry the NFL? Simply looking at his numbers from last season tells that story.

Burrow played in all 17 games in 2024, completing 70.6 percent of his pass attempts for 4,918 yards, 43 touchdowns, and just nine interceptions. He also ran for 201 yards and two more touchdowns.

If he can put those numbers up and just now feel like he’s throwing the football the best he has in several years, that should be a very scary thought for opposing defenses. Can he actually take his game to a higher level in 2025?

That would be a high bar to set, but Burrow chases perfection. His massive individual season doesn’t mean much to him when his team loses.

With extra motivation stemming from last year’s disappointment, Burrow could be in store for another eye-popping season. Cincinnati was able to keep both of his top wide receivers, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, on new long-term extension.

Everything seems to be in place for the Bengals to get back on track. If Burrow truly is able to play at his highest level in years, Cincinnati might just be back in the Super Bowl hunt.
