All 32 teams are going to be evaluating their rosters and are likely to bring in more players as training camp and preseason roll on. The San Francisco 49ers are certainly doing just that, and have worked out multiple veteran players, including a fan-favorite running back.

According to multiple reports, the 49ers worked out former Super Bowl participant Jeff Wilson.
Wilson spent the 2018 to 2022 seasons with the 49ers, appearing with the team in the 2019 season trip to the Super Bowl. Sadly, San Francisco was outdone by the Kansas City Chiefs. In the big game, Wilson only caught one pass for 20 yards.

Wilson joined the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of North Texas. Through five seasons with San Francisco, Wilson secured 1,733 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground, along with 387 yards and four touchdowns through the air.
Wilson might not be a superstar, but he is a solid veteran who can add insurance for Christian McCaffrey.
Per the reports, the 49ers also worked out Ameer Abdullah, D’Ernest Johnson, Deon Jackson, wide receiver Andy Isabella, and Marquez Callaway.
As stated, the 49ers are ensuring that their roster is going to be filled with the proper players and enough depth to gon on a deep playoff run. After the 2023 season, which saw the team appear in the Super Bowl again, the team had a very underwhelming 2024 campaign.
The 49ers finished the season with a 6-11 record and have since lost Deebo Samuel and Charvarius Ward to other teams. Now, San Francisco is hoping to bounce back in a big way in 2025.
The issue is the 49ers also have many questions regarding their offensive weapons. McCaffrey missed most of the season due to Achilles tendonitis and a posterior cruciate ligament injury.
Brandon Aiyuk also tore his ACL, just weeks after signing a new extension with the 49ers.
There are clearly some worries and questions regarding the health of the 49ers’ playmakers, which is likely why the team is working out multiple running backs and wide receivers.
Though many of the players listed might not get a shot at the 53-man roster or be signed at all, the 49ers are doing their due diligence to put together a solid roster.
