EXCLUSIVE: Writer-director Jessica Barr has wrapped production on The Plan, an ambitious thriller starring Eve Lindley (Dispatches from Elsewhere), Ryan Simpkins (The House), Jordan Hull (The L Word: Generation Q), Frank Mosley (Some Beasts), Percy Hynes White (Wednesday), and An-Li Bogan (The Sex Lives of College Girls).

The Plan takes place inside a modest Los Angeles apartment over the course of a single day, watching as a group of disillusioned young adults prepares for a radical act they believe will change the world. As paranoia builds and fractures deepen, the lines between purpose, fear, and identity blur. The film, shot in L.A. in just three days, unfolds in a single, 90-minute unbroken take.

Pic is produced by Alexander Gould (Weeds), Sarah Whelden (who also served as DP), Kelly Wilcox, and Madhouse Films (Forbidden Fruits, Long Pork). Ryan Ward and Mariah Leath exec produced.

Said Barr, “The Plan was always about what happens between people when the stakes get impossibly high. Shooting it as a one-take meant we had to live inside that pressure—in real time. I wrote a purposely unfinished script so the actors could take ownership of their characters and let the story unfold through improvisation. From rehearsal to shoot day, every part of the process reshaped the film itself.”

Currently unrepped, Barr is a multi-hyphenate filmmaker from Portland, Oregon whose work often explores themes of loss and coming of age. Her feature  Sophie Jones, which she wrote, produced, and starred in, premiered at the 2020 Deauville Film Festival and was later acquired by Oscilloscope Laboratories. The film screened at numerous festivals and holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Her 2024 short film Tight had its world premiere at SXSW and was named one of the top 10 films to see by Harper’s Bazaar. It later premiered online as a Vimeo Staff Pick. Her most recent short drama, Private Moments, is currently on the festival circuit.

Lindley is repped by CESD, Station 3, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman; Simpkins by Buchwald, Canopy Media Partners, and Jackoway Austen; Hull by CESD and Levity Entertainment Group; Mosley by SMS Talent, The Acting Group Talent Agency, and BAM Management; White by Innovative Artists, OAZ, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern; and Bogan by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
