On Monday morning, the New York Giants confirmed that their third-year wide receiver, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, suffered a devastating injury.

With a torn Achilles, Ford-Wheaton is likely to miss the entire 2025 NFL season.

Before the Giants’ Monday practice session, the team’s head coach, Brian Daboll, spoke on the young wideout’s recent update.

“My heart aches for that man,” Daboll told reporters.

Unfortunately, Ford-Wheaton is no stranger to missing an entire season.

The special-teamer couldn’t make it to his rookie debut as he suffered a knee injury during the Giants’ third preseason game against the New York Jets in 2023.

At the time, Ford-Wheaton was an undrafted rookie out of West Virginia. Fortunately, he stuck with the Giants for his sophomore effort in the league. Ford-Wheaton bounced back by appearing in 14 games during his first official season playing.

While Ford-Wheaton only landed a couple of snaps on offense, he played in over 70 percent of the Giants’ special teams snaps when he was available.

Just hours after going down with the injury, Ford-Wheaton released a statement.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t devastated!” Ford-Wheaton wrote on social media.

“I did everything by the book! Didn’t take a single shortcut, left no stone unturned, invested everything into my body and my health this year. I’m not sure why me but I promise I’m not going out on these terms. It’s a long road ahead for sure, but I know this is just part of God’s plan for me, no matter how tough it may seem right now. Thank you all for your prayers, please continue to keep me in them. I WILL be back, that’s a promise!! God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers!”

According to The Athletic’s Dan Duggan, the Giants will carry a $1 million cap hit for Ford-Wheaton to stay on the injured reserve all season. Considering the Giants have a little under $4 million in cap space, Duggan suggests that “cap moves are coming.”

Meanwhile, Ford-Wheaton will have to place all of his focus on rehab for the second time in three seasons.

The Giants are back out on the field on Monday afternoon to continue their training camp, which kicked off midway through last week. It’s the first day of contact with pads on for the team.
