Tech royalty, Olympic athletes, celebrities and former Vice President Kamala Harris gathered in the Cotswolds region of England this weekend to celebrate the wedding of Eve Jobs, the 27-year-old daughter of the Apple visionary Steve Jobs and his wife, Laurene Powell Jobs, and Harry Charles, a 26-year-old British Olympic equestrian, according to The Times, The Daily Mail, Hello!, and other publications.
Ms. Jobs, a model and equestrian who graduated from Stanford, reportedly married Mr. Charles, a show jumper whose father, Peter Charles, is also an Olympic show jumper, on July 26 at the St. Michael and All Angels Church in the Oxfordshire village of Great Tew, around 75 miles northwest of London.
Using a strategy similar to the one deployed by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez for their lavish Venetian wedding in June, the two have kept most of the details of their wedding a secret. A private entrance to the church was reportedly used to limit exposure of high-profile guests to paparazzi. Their representatives did not respond to requests for comment, and as of Monday, their social media pages showed no signs of the wedding festivities.
Ms. Harris, a longtime friend of the mother of the bride, was spotted at a smaller gathering in the days leading up to the ceremony. The reception is said to have been held at Estelle Manor, a hotel and private country club in Oxfordshire, which the couple reportedly bought out for the occasion. The weekend’s entertainment reportedly included performances by Elton John and Kaytranada, the Grammy-winning Haitian-Canadian music producer.
Among the rumored wedding guests are Bill and Melinda Gates’s daughters Phoebe Gates and Jennifer Gates Nassar, the Olympic skier Eileen Gu, the actor Callum Turner (who is engaged to Dua Lipa), and the chef Ruth Rogers. Jessica Springsteen, Bruce Springsteen’s daughter, was reportedly among the bridesmaids, seen in a red dress and carrying a bouquet while exiting a black van. Paparazzi photos suggest a black-tie dress code, based on the formal attire worn by guests.
On Instagram, Kourtney Kardashian posted a carousel of photos with the location tagged as the Cotswolds, plus stories showing a place card and a cake decorated with roses, leading to speculation that she attended the wedding as well.
Ms. Jobs and Mr. Charles publicly shared their relationship on Instagram in August 2024, when Ms. Jobs posted a video of him running to kiss her at the Paris Olympics, and congratulated him for winning a gold medal as a show jumper on Team GB. Though it’s unclear how the couple first met, their shared love of horses likely played a role in bringing them together.
In a rare bridal glimpse on Instagram in June, Ms. Jobs posted a collection of photos from her bachelorette trip. Wearing a white, shimmering spaghetti-strap dress and a veil accessory, she posed with friends on the coast of Italy. One photo showed an inflatable raft that said “bride” in all-caps, and she captioned the post: “what a weekend with my favorite girls.”
According to Hello!, on Sunday, the newlyweds set off on the bride’s mother’s $120 million super yacht, Venus, for a honeymoon in the Greek islands.
‘Laid-back Luxury’
Ms. Jobs and Mr. Charles’s high-profile wedding may cement the Cotswolds as the latest in-demand destination for celebrities, the wealthy, and others looking for an experience that combines picturesque English countryside views with a sense of luxury. David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Hugh Grant, Calvin Harris, and Ellen DeGeneres are all said to have homes in the area.
“It’s a really, really popular destination for Americans,” said Jessie Westwood, a luxury event and wedding planner whose business, Studio Sorores, is based in the Cotswolds. Ms. Westwood, who has been in business for 15 years, said that about 80 percent of her clients who book weddings in the Cotswolds are American or Canadian.
Ms. Westwood likened the area to the Hamptons in New York, in terms of proximity to the city and airports. In the last decade or so, she added, the region has attracted more and more celebrities and wealthy people who buy second homes there and commute to London. Hand in hand with that, stores, brands, members’ clubs, and restaurants have opened to serve the elite clientele.
On top of that, it is a beautiful area that “feels like going back in time a bit,” she said. “It’s not ostentatious in terms of style,” she said, adding that the members’ clubs and restaurants have a quality of “laid-back luxury” that people want.
With the region’s historic buildings and walls made of stone, the Cotswolds “does feel like you’re in a fairy tale or you’re in a movie,” Ms. Westwood said.
The cost of the wedding, which was reportedly planned by Stanlee Gatti, a prominent party designer and a close friend of Ms. Harris, was reported to be around $6.7 million, factoring in about a $1.3 million speculated fee for Elton John and other elements. But Ms. Westwood estimated that the cost was likely higher than that, primarily because the couple went “the extra mile in terms of exclusivity of venues that wouldn’t normally have a wedding on a weekend where members are using it.”
