Yankees’ Aaron Judge Finally Breaks Silence Following Grim Injury Update

The New York Yankees will be without slugger Aaron Judge for at least 10 days, as the team’s manager, Aaron Boone, recently announced Judge will land on the injured list with a flexor strain.

Judge struggled throwing the ball earlier this week and was given a day off against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday so he could undergo testing on his injured elbow and forearm.

Though the imaging revealed no damage to the UCL, the flexor strain was enough to send Judge to the sidelines for at least the next 10 days, though he doesn’t seem to be happy about it.

“The pain is tough to tell,” Judge said following the news that he would be headed to the IL. You know, we’re starting to get on some medicine just to kind of clean that stuff up,” “I couldn’t throw. I think that kind of sums it up. I was reluctant about going on the IL or anything like that. If I can hit, let me hit.”

Judge also noted that he believes he’ll start as the designated hitter once the tenth day is up on his IL stint. He also noted that he would rather have stayed as the designated hitter rather than been placed on the IL, but obviously, Judge didn’t get his way.

Flexor mass and elbow injuries typically only flare up when throwing, so it’s a bit odd to see Judge hitting the injured list if he was already reluctant to the idea. But at the end of the day, it’s the best player in baseball, so it’s understandable that the Yankees want to play it safe rather than risking a potential UCL injury.

That doesn’t mean Judge is happy about it.
