Tripearl Games recently announced their second game, The Player Who Can’t Level Up. It’s based on the web novel and webtoon of the same name, published by Kakao Entertainment. And looking into it, it’s the kind of thing I wish I knew about earlier.
The Player Who Can’t Level Up fits a game perfectly
The premise is pretty simple and, explained perfectly: “In a world where everyone levels up, one player is stuck at level 1. Forever.”
They mention that they’re making the game in full collaboration with the original creators, which is huge for fans of the series. I’m excited to actually check it out myself because it sounds like the type of thing I would be into.
“We loved the world of Kim Kigyu: a protagonist who defies the typical ‘power fantasy’ by being powerless… and then finding power his own way,” Tripearl Games’ announcement reads. “It felt different. Honest. And we wanted to turn that world into something players could live and breathe through stylish, high-impact gameplay.“
And what better way to do this than to make it an action roguelite? It’s almost like they wanted me to find this.
– You can’t level up—but you can evolve.
Progress comes through strategy. Choose powerful perks (Ego Shards), adapt your style, and build your own way to survive the never-before-seen tower.
– It’s built for gameplay-first players.
We enjoyed playing games like Hades, Dead Cells, Devil May Cry, and Ninja Gaiden. We wanted combat that’s tight, stylish, and satisfying—backed by Unreal Engine 5 and full 3D freedom of movement.
– Roguelite depth, without the grind.
Every run is different. Every floor, a new challenge. Die, grow stronger, and re-enter. You won’t get stronger just by numbers—you’ll need to adapt, learn, and outplay.
Yes. I’m in. A game that promises to make me better, by making me better. Add it to the list. You can wishlist The Player Who Can’t Level Up on Steam now.
