Despite rumors of a delay, Metroid Prime 4’s release could actually be announced soon. A new update to the game’s rating system might have tipped off when the Nintendo title’s launch window will be revealed.
Metroid Prime 4 Release Date May Be Revealed Soon
Although we had a Metroid Prime 4 Direct back in March 2025, Nintendo has yet to announce its release date. This has led many fans to speculate that the game could miss its launch window. However, we may have some good news, as a new update could suggest that the project is actually on track to debut this year after all.
On July 25, Metroid Prime 4 was rated in Korea by its Game Content Classification Committee. Here is the rating board’s description of the first-person shooter: “Metroid Prime 4 has Mild Violence using weapons attached to the suit to attack alien lifeforms. Therefore, it has been rated as ‘for ages 12 and up.’” While this doesn’t mention a specific launch window, games often release soon after being rated.
And with Nintendo previously stating that Metroid Prime 4 will be out “sometime in 2025”, it seems like a release date could be revealed soon. I mean, after all, it’s already almost August and there are only a few months left in the year.
That said, this isn’t always true. There have been titles submitted for rating that still ended up getting delayed for years. However, the whole release situation for Metroid Beyond has been pretty unusual, including rumors that it might not even launch in 2025. At this point, anything is possible.
A Leaker Claims Metroid Beyond Isn’t Even finished yet
Adding confusion into the mix is a recent leak that claims Metroid Prime 4 has had troubling development. The report comes from gaming insider ‘Kiwi Talkz,’ who alleged that the Nintendo title isn’t even finished yet. “I know Metroid fans are getting impatient. But the reason there is no release date is because the game isn’t finished.”
The infamous leaker revealed the troubling update in a series of July 22 posts on X. In a follow-up comment, Kiwi clarified, “There are development milestones that keep getting missed, which is why you don’t have a release date yet.”
If true, this makes it sound like Metroid Prime 4 is in development hell and far off from a 2025 launch. I mean, missing development milestones is a pretty big deal. So which is it? Is Metroid Prime 4 on track to release in 2025, or is it going to get a massive delay?
The recent rating in Korea definitely doesn’t help clarify things. However, it’s important to take everything with a major grain of salt. While Metroid Beyond might not launch this year, I think it’s likely its release date will be announced soon.
Particularly because of its recent rating in Korea. Nintendo also has a history of delaying major games that need more time. However, they usually give a new release date as well. So it’s possible Metroid Prime 4’s release date in 2026 gets revealed soon. Although I’m holding out hope it still launches this holiday.
