PHOENIX — A grand jury has formally indicted two men of stealing over $140,000 in merchandize from Walmart stores across Arizona, authorities said.

Alexander Moreno Dantzler and Christopher Campos-Henry are facing a combined number of 70 counts of organized retail theft and other crimes for their role in a property trafficking ring, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office announced Wednesday.

The alleged organized retail theft scheme targeted Walmart stores throughout Pima, Maricopa, Pinal, Cochise, Graham, Mohave and Yavapai counties, prosecutors said.

How did investigators identify Arizona suspects in widespread Walmart theft?

Moreno Dantzler and Campos-Henrey were indicted following two investigations from the state’s attorney general’s office, which worked with several departments:

  • Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
  • Oro Valley Police Department.
  • Arizona Department of Public Safety.
  • Sahuarita Police Department.

Earlier this year, Mayes joined a bipartisan coalition of leaders across 38 states to urge Congress to take action against organized retail theft.

“Organized retail crime isn’t just about stolen merchandise,” Attorney General Kris Mayes said at the time. “It’s about criminal networks exploiting communities, threatening workers and driving up costs for families.”
