Sam Levinson wrote the third season of HBO drama series Euphoria while listening to the scores of Interstellar and True Romance so it’s apt that he’s brought along the man responsible for the third season.

Hans Zimmer, who scored the Christopher Nolan and Tony Scott-directed movies, has boarded the third season and will compose the score alongside British musician Labrinth, who scored the first two seasons.

It comes as the third season of the show, which premiered its second season in 2022, is currently in production.

Zendaya returns as Rue Bennett, alongside the likes of Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Eric Dane, Hunter Scafer, Alexa Demie, Dominic Fike and Maude Apatow. Colman Domingo returns as a guest star with Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry upped to series regulars alongside fresh faces including Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, Kadeem Hardison, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Toby Wallace. Barbie Ferreira, however, will not feature in season three.

Sharon Stone is also set to make an appearance.

The eight-part season will include a time jump that brings the characters out of high school and is expected to close out the story.

Levinson writes, directs and exec produces the series, which comes from A24 and is based on the eponymous Israeli series.

Hans Zimmer said, “It’s an honor to join this incredible team of storytellers led by the visionary Sam Levinson. Together, they have crafted such a bold and moving series that has meant so much to audiences. Labrinth’s music has shaped the show’s identity and I’m looking forward to contributing to the ongoing story and helping shape this new season through music.”

Labrinth added, “Another chapter in the Euphoria universe. So great to join Hans, one of my heroes in film score, and bring some new magic to this new season.”

Sam Levinson said, “It’s a true honor to be working alongside Hans. I wrote this season to the score of Interstellar and True Romance. So he’s been ingrained in the creative DNA since the beginning. I’m really proud of the work Labrinth and I have done in previous seasons and am excited for Hans to push us to new heights.”
