EXCLUSIVE: Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. is among cast to join Michael Bisping thriller Atlas King with filming underway this week in Los Angeles.
Punch It Films is behind the movie written and directed by Nika Agiashvili (Daughter Of The Wolf). Gooding Jr. joins the previously announced Bisping, George Finn, Sarah Wayne Callies, and Anne Winters. Also joining are Lara Wolf (Those About to Die), Tetiana Dar (Toxic), and Jeff Perkins (Fluxx).
Atlas King follows a hardened ex-fighter, played by former MMA fighter Bisping, who returns from exile to bury his best friend and confront old rivalries. Reuniting with his godson (Finn), a streetwise enforcer entangled with a powerful crime syndicate, the two hatch a high-stakes heist in a desperate bid to escape the grip of a ruthless mob boss (Gooding Jr.).
The film is produced by Agiashvili, along with longtime collaborators John Edward Lee and George Finn of Storyman Pictures. Michael Bisping, Deanna Plascencia, Savannah Belcher and Mike Campbell also produce, with Kevin DeWalt as executive producer and Giga Chikadze and Ben Holland serving as associate producers.
Earlier this year at Cannes’, Bisping and Storyman Pictures unveiled Punch It Films, their new production and finance venture.
Jerry Maguire and Boyz In The Hood star Gooding Jr. recently starred in action-thriller A Line Of Fire. Lara Wolf most recently starred in series Those About to Die. Tetiana Dar, a tactical weapons trainer on movies including John Wick: Chapter 4 and Ballerina, will next be seen in feature Toxic. Jeff Perkins’ credits include Fluxx and Echo Boomers.
