A destructive crash in San Bernardino County left two people dead and another injured on the Air Expressway, authorities confirmed Sunday morning.
The two-vehicle collision was reported to the Victorville Police Station at 8:47 p.m. on Saturday, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies, fire crews and paramedics responded to the call in the area of Air Expressway east of Ranch Road in Adelanto to find two severely damaged vehicles — a Gold Mercedes CLK320 and a silver Honda Accord — and three patients in the westbound lanes of the expressway.
“The driver of the Honda Accord, an adult male, and passenger of the Mercedes CLK320, Destiny Simon, sustained major injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash,” SBSD said in a release. The adult male driver and solo occupant of the Honda was not identified.
Simon, the passenger of the Mercedes, was identified as an 18-year-old resident of San Bernardino. The driver of the Mercedes, identified as 19-year-old Jalen Kendall of Helendale, was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for his injuries. Officials did not specify the severity of his injuries or his condition.
Details are limited, and the crash is under investigation. SBSD said the Air Expressway between Gas Line Road and North D Street was closed for several hours.
Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Deputy C. Stanley or Deputy J. Stroik at the Victorville Police Station.
