Authorities are searching for two suspects after a home invasion in Northridge Thursday night while an elderly woman was home alone.
The break-in happened around 9:45 p.m. at a residence on the 8800 block of Newcastle Avenue in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Unconfirmed reports from stringer service Traffic News L.A. indicate that the woman, while watching security camera footage, saw two suspects enter her home through a back sliding door.
Deputies responded to the scene, but the suspects had already fled. Authorities searched the property and found signs of forced entry, though it’s currently unknown whether anything was taken, officials said.
Footage from the scene shows deputies speaking with the victim, who is in a wheeled walker, outside what appears to be her front door. Friends and family members also arrived to support her. TNLA estimated the woman to be around 90 years old, though that detail has not been confirmed by authorities.
No injuries were reported, and no suspect description has been released. The woman was not believed to be harmed.
The home invasion remains under investigation.
