James Gunn is clearing up reports about the future of Wonder Woman as his DC Universe takes shape on the big screen following the release of Superman.

The filmmaker took to social media to dispel rumors about who they are trying to cast in the Wonder Woman role. Gunn replied to a post from a fan that cited they were looking for a TV actress like House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock, who was cast as Supergirl.

“Nope. And l’d never in a million years look for a major role based on whether they did TV, films, or whatever. It’s all about the casting,” Gunn replied on Threads. “I didn’t cast Milly because of her past, but because she was the best one for the role.”

The director, writer, and producer ended the post saying they are not looking to fill the Wonder Woman role yet, despite rumors.

“We’re also not casting WW, nor even discussing it, until a script is finished,” he added.

Another fan replied asking about filming for the Wonder Woman film citing multiple reports it was getting “fast-tracked,” to which Gunn said, “It’s a priority but I wouldn’t call that fast-tracked. Nothing is going to be shot unless we’re as sure as we can be that the script is good.”

During the press tour for Superman, Gunn was asked about casting rumors around Wonder Woman after social media users saw he followed actress Adria Arjona.

“I follow Adria on Instagram but everybody came out [and said], ‘He just followed her, that means she’s Wonder Woman,’” Gunn said in an interview with Extra. “She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way.”

Gunn continued, “She was in a movie that I made seven years ago. We’ve been friends and have known each other since that time. I followed her then, I didn’t just follow her.”
