HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A man was arrested and is now facing multiple charges after officers noticed him with what appeared to be a bag of drugs.
On Wednesday, Huntsville Police officers were patrolling the area of Derrick Street near an encampment when they noticed a man carrying what appeared to be a small bag of illegal drugs.
According to HPD, officers went up to the man and asked to speak with him. Authorities said that the man agreed to speak; however, before stepping out of his tent he appeared to hide the bag of drugs inside the tent.
As the man stepped out of the tent and began speaking with officers, he attempted to discreetly drop a bag of drugs onto the ground.
Shortly after, the man was detained. HPD said they began to search the man’s belongings after they received permission from him.
HPD told News 19 that officers found a small amount of methamphetamine, four strips of buprenorphine, 0.3 grams of fentanyl, and three hydrocodone pills.
As a result, Brian Antwoine Parker, 43, of Huntsville, was arrested and charged with the following:
- possession of methamphetamine
- possession, use, delivery, sale, or manufacture of drug paraphernalia to manufacture a controlled substance
- possession of opium or derivative
- possession of synthetic narcotic
Parker was booked into the Madison County Jail and was issued a $10,000 bond.
