Alpine Meadows | $2.7 million (3.695 Canadian dollars)
A renovated home with mountain views and a miniature putting green
This four-bedroom, three-bathroom house is in Alpine Meadows, a neighborhood filled with densely wooded lots just north of Whistler Village, which offers upscale shopping and dining, and Whistler Blackcomb, North America’s largest ski resort.
The town of Whistler, with a year-round population of about 14,000, is 75 miles north of Vancouver, the largest city in British Columbia. Like many recreational areas, it is exempt from Canada’s ban on foreign home buyers, which has been extended until 2027.
Green Lake, Whistler’s largest lake and a frequent landing site for float planes, is a short drive east. Alpine Café, popular for breakfasts and sandwiches, and Alpine Meadows Market are within walking distance.
The seller of this property bought it in the late 1990s and spent a year on renovations. Along with new electrical and plumbing systems, he added a stone facade and a back terrace of inlaid stone.

A three-bedrom A-frame chalet near Alta Lake
Built in 1968, before Whistler’s development as a resort, this three-bedroom, three-bathroom chalet was designed in the A-frame style prevalent at the time. Few A-frames remain in Whistler as wealthy buyers demolish them to build larger homes.
The house is a short walk from Alta Lake, popular with windsurfers and kayakers in summer and ice skaters in cold-weather months. Whistler Village is less than two miles northeast, and Whistler Blackcomb is just past the village. Whistler Sliding Centre, one of the continent’s only bobsled rides, is a few miles east. Hunter Gather, a gastro pub popular for its brisket burgers, is a short drive north.
Size: 2,412 square feet
Price per square foot: $1,120
Indoors: The seller bought this home in 2011, becoming its third owner. Along with cosmetic improvements, he installed a heat-pump system to supplement electric baseboards. An open-plan living/dining area on the main floor includes a kitchen with wood cabinets, a hardwood breakfast bar and white appliances. A natural-gas fireplace warms the living room. There are two small bedrooms and one bathroom on this level.
The primary bedroom and its en suite bathroom are on the second floor. A captain’s ladder climbs from a landing to a bright-green attic bedroom with vaulted ceilings. The home’s finished basement includes a family room and a space used as a gym. The property is being sold as is, furniture included.
Outdoor space: The seller’s renovations also included a front deck with a walkout from the living room. There is a two-car garage with its own entrance to the house. The property sits on 0.18 acres, and the backyard is fenced.
Costs: Annual property taxes total about $7,000 (9,573 Canadian dollars).
