EXCLUSIVE: Rapper Lil Mama, Mudbound and Straight Outta’ Compton star Jason Mitchell and Carlos Ponce (Couple’s Retreat) are starring in action-thriller Mercy Mercy Me, written and directed by Wes Miller (A Day To Die).
The crime-thriller, set in 1985, sees two reformed outlaws, Mercy (Lil Mama) and Khaos (Jason Mitchell), pulled back into the life they left behind. They’re forced to take on a dangerous job that pits them against mob bosses, a crooked detective (Ponce), and their own past sins. Below are first look images of Mitchell and Lil Mama in the film.
LA-based production company Blacklight is financing the indie movie with Andrew van den Houten and Wes Miller producing, Joseph O’Connor and Lloyd Watts co-producing and Jessie Jalee and Chad Ghiron executive-producing. 79th & Broadway Entertainment will be handling the sales for both domestic and international.
“Mercy Mercy Me is story about grief, guilt, and the struggle to find forgiveness. I wanted to explore how unresolved pain can echo through generations. The cast brought raw, fearless performances that made every moment feel lived-in. Excited to share it with our audience,” said writer-director Miller.
Miller’s work includes River Runs Red (2018), starring Taye Diggs, George Lopez, and John Cusack, and A Day to Die (2022), starring Bruce Willis, Kevin Dillon, Leon and Frank Grillo.
