A store owner who lost his business in the Palisades Fire and then reopened in Hollywood says he fell victim to a burglary overnight.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to KTLA that officers responded to a business at 1050 Cahuenga Avenue around 4 a.m. Tuesday on a report of multiple people breaking into a business. The address provided by the police is the location of Magoo’s LA, a store where people can buy, sell, and trade clothes, shoes, and other merchandise.

While LAPD officials could not confirm immediately if anything was taken, Jacob Maged, the owner of Magoo’s LA, provided KTLA with surveillance footage that shows the suspects ransacking the store, stealing products, and leaving a mess in their wake. The video shows them hurriedly taking piles of clothes from multiple display rooms and a storage room.

Video taken by KTLA photojournalist Dan Lunsford shows that the thieves appeared to have pried a metal window covering off an exterior wall before smashing the window in to gain access.

Maged stated that he lost his business in the Palisades Fire earlier this year and rushed to reopen in Hollywood, and now, he’s distraught over his business’ latest turn of fate.

The Malibu-Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce lists the address of the previous Magoo’s LA location as 869 Swarthmore Avenue in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood.

A video posted on YouTube indicates the new Magoo’s LA store had a grand opening ceremony on June 8.

No further information on the incident was immediately available.

Nancy Fontan contributed to this report.
