A 7-year-old’s spontaneous reflections on his life have captured the hearts of thousands online.

The moment between a mother, Kat Parker, and her 7-year-old son has gone viral on TikTok, showcasing the joy and security a child feels when deeply loved. Parker, 47, told Newsweek about the conversation with her son, Kairon, that has resonated with parents across the internet.

“I may cry one day … because I have the most loving family ever,” Kairon said in the video. When Parker prompted him to tell her more about what he loves about his life, Kairon responded with a wisdom beyond his years.

“That since I was a baby, you’ve been taking care of me all the way until I’m 7—all the way to 2025,” Kairon said. “You guys, like, never abandon me … You always make my life so—the funnest life ever … You are the … best, smartest, nicest mom ever.”

Parker said that these profound conversations often happen during Kairon’s nightly bath.

“Every night while he takes a bath, we talk,” she added. “Sometimes, it’s about his day, but mostly we talk about things he’s excited about or interested in.

“He’s always saying amazing things that totally blow me away and I like to record them, to show my husband who may have missed those moments but also for myself and my son,” Parker said. “I want to show him these videos when he’s older to show him the impact that they had on me as his mom.”

Hearing her son’s words filled Parker with immense joy and validation. And while emotion swelled in her, she purposefully kept her cool.

“I didn’t cry then, because I didn’t want him to stop talking. I wanted to soak up everything he was saying,” Parker said. “I definitely was teary-eyed, however. So many moms don’t get to hear their children say those words. They wonder if they’ve done a good job. They wonder if their kids are happy.”

Parker said that hearing those words from Kairon was the confirmation that so many moms need: “We are so hard on ourselves as moms, so when we can see that we’re getting it right or got it right, it’s the best feeling ever.”

For Parker, a mother of three ranging from ages 7 to 23, these words signify success in her parenting philosophy.

“Moments like this say that I’m accomplishing exactly what I wanted to accomplish, which is not to be a perfect mom—but a safe one,” she said. “This is an environment where he knows that he can talk to me about anything, and that he doesn’t have to suppress his emotions.”

Parker says she hopes that, by fostering such an open environment, Kairon will grow into an adult capable of healthy relationships.

She offered a powerful message to other mothers: “Having two older children has allowed me to learn from my mistakes and be more intentional about the kind of mom I want to be,” she said.

“Even though I wasn’t always the mom I am now, I worked really hard on my relationships with them, and it has paid off. I want other moms to know that being a mom means constantly questioning if you’re doing enough, while simultaneously doing everything.

“But your presence, not your perfection, is what your child remembers,” Parker added.
