Bills Urged to Target Major Trade Before Training Camp

The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for the start of NFL training camp later this month. Fans are starting to get excited about football being back on their TV’s and the Bills’ fan base is hoping to see their team finally make a run to the Super Bowl again.

Last season, Buffalo came up just one win short of the big game. In the AFC Championship Game, the Bills fell to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in a game that they could have easily won.

While the team has had a sour taste in their mouth all offseason long, there is a lot of optimism heading into the 2025 campaign. Buffalo is without question one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the NFL to start Week 1.

Even though the Bills are a top-tier contender entering the season, there are some flaws that could hurt them in the long run. One of those flaws is a lack of top-tier weapons for superstar quarterback Josh Allen to work with.

Adding a big playmaker for Allen was expected to be a major priority. That wasn’t the case.

All that Buffalo did to address the wide receiver position was to let Mack Hollins walk and replace him with Joshua Palmer. He will be a nice addition, but the team did not improve much if at all at the position.

Keeping that in mind, the Bills have now been urged to consider a major wide receiver trade ahead of training camp beginning.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Monday that San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings wants to either receive a new contract extension or get traded. If he is placed on the trade block, Buffalo could be a legitimate landing spot.

With that news coming out, Mike Moraitis of Buffalo Bills on SI has urged the team to consider trading for Jennings.

“Buffalo is also slated to be over the cap in 2026 before finally having some semblance of significant cap space in 2027, so funding Jennings’ extension down the road will be tough,” he wrote. “For a team with Super Bowl aspirations, acquiring Jennings makes all the sense in the world for the Bills. However, general manager Brandon Beane will have to get creative to get it done.”

Jennings put together a strong performance in 2024 with the 49ers. He played in 15 games and caught 77 passes for 975 yards and six touchdowns.

At 28 years old, Jennings could be a nice pickup not just for the 2025 season, but also for a couple more years to come. That is the kind of trade target the Bills should consider if they dip into the market.

Right now, this is just an idea that has been suggested for Buffalo. Depending on what San Francisco decides to do, the Bills could consider checking in on a potential trade.
