ABC News will debut its first original daily news show for Disney+ on July 21, with What You Need To Know, anchored by James Longman and Rachel Scott.
Each episode will premiere at 6 a.m. ET, and will be available on demand for the next 24 hours before a new show drops. Per the network, the show will be “a fast, fresh way to stay ahead of the conversation as viewers start their day.”
ABC News’ GMA3 had the What You Need To Know tagline in its title for the past five years, but that was recently shortened to simply GMA3. Good Morning America‘s executive producer Simone Swink now oversees the third hour, with GMA personalities serving as hosts. Longman, chief international correspondent, and Scott, senior political correspondent, also have hosted.
Almin Karamehmedovic, president of ABC News, said in a statement, “This new effort expands ABC News’ significant footprint on Disney+, allowing us to reach and connect with new and diverse audiences.”
Disney+ already features on demand access to ABC News’ Good Morning America, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir, ABC News Live Prime with Linsey Davis, Nightline as well as ABC News Live streaming news channel.
