Dodgers Expected To Part Ways With Highly Regarded Former Top Prospect

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a few holes on their roster, and they’re going to need to patch these holes if they want to repeat as World Series champions.

With that in mind, it’s expected the Dodgers will be very aggressive at the trade deadline. But with a team expected to be aggressive, it’s important to note which players they would use to trade away in these potential blockbuster deals.

Henry Palattella of Dodgers Way recently predicted the Dodgers would cut ties with former top pitching prospect Bobby Miller in the coming weeks.

“He started 2024 strong before suffering a shoulder injury that kept him out for two months. He wasn’t much better once he returned either, which led to him being sent to Triple-A,” Palattella wrote. “Things haven’t gone much better for him this year, as he got hit in the head by a line drive during spring training. He’s only thrown five ineffective innings with the Dodgers this year, and now has a 5.44 ERA in 185 1/3 career innings.

“But that doesn’t mean that won’t be a team interested in taking a swing on the former top prospect. This could be a similar situation to Outman, where the Dodgers could kill two birds with one stone by using Miller as a last-chance sweetener in any deal.”

Miller was once regarded as one of the best pitching prospects in baseball. Now, he can’t even crack the injury-riddled Dodgers rotation.

While he likely doesn’t hold much value at this point, he could be included in a trade that lands the Dodgers a star. There are likely some teams on the fence, like the Cincinnati Reds and Boston Red Sox, who would trade expiring veterans for a pitcher like Miller.
