The Detroit Tigers have a substantial lead on the American League Central, and while Will Vest has been a dominating force in their bullpen, they could use the depth as they lock their eyes on the World Series. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Twins sit four games back of the final Wild Card spot and have a lights-out closer in Jhoan Durán that Tim Britton, Aaron Gleeman, and Chad Jennings of The Athletic rank as the No. 8 player on their trade deadline big board.

The chances of Durán being moved are solely dependent on how the Twins fare over the next two and a half weeks. If Minnesota can claw its way back up the American League Wild Card standings, then it may hold off on trading Durán as it looks to make it back to October.

Durán has been one of the league’s best relievers over the last four seasons, posting a 2.40 career ERA, and has not allowed a home run this season as the season closes in on the All-Star break.

Durán would come at a hefty price, as he is under team control until 2028. If the Twins find themselves as sellers in two weeks, the righty could be a hot topic in front offices if his services become available. Much like Ryan Helsley of the St. Louis Cardinals, Durán’s trade probability depends on how the Twins play over the next couple of weeks.

Durán has electrifying stuff, and if he is to become available, the Tigers should be calling their division rival about the cost of adding the Twins’ closer to their ranks.
