Heartbroken about a cat’s disappearance, a divorced couple believed the feline had passed until they received an unexpected call from the Louisiana SPCA four years later.

The exes owned a cat, Glennys, together before they split in 2015. Every pet parent’s worst nightmare came true in 2021 when Glennys disappeared. Being a senior cat, they expected she had passed away when she did not turn up during searches.

However, the man recently received a call from his ex-wife, who shared some unexpected news about Glennys: years later, someone captured the cat in a trap and brought her into the Louisiana SPCA in New Orleans. His ex asked if he could pick Glennys up since she was out of the country, and he happily accepted the “sidequest.”

The man’s girlfriend shared his reunion with Glennys in a June 27 video on her TikTok account, @jaxfortuneteller. The clip showed him standing, frozen in disbelief, when the worker brought Glennys out. He couldn’t believe she came back into their lives.

“She was lost uptown a long time ago and then was found in a trap on the West Bank!” his girlfriend told Newsweek via TikTok. “Some commenters think she was stolen because no one ever checked her microchip while she was missing.”

The Louisiana SPCA had tried calling the number on the cat’s collar, but never received a response. That’s when they checked the number on the microchip, which connected them to him and his ex-wife.

The video shows him smothering her with kisses. The couple brought Glennys back to their home, where she met another cat. It didn’t take her long to explore the house.

While he would’ve loved to keep her, Glennys is now happily living with his daughter in Mississippi.

“His daughter took her because his ex-wife has a dog now, and he had plans to travel over the summer,” the girlfriend said.

Viewer Reactions

The touching reunion between him and Glennys amassed over 415,600 views, 56,900 likes and nearly 300 comments on TikTok.

“Glennys had a side quest to complete. I’m so happy she found her way back to you,” wrote one viewer.

“These kind of stories are so heartwarming, even knowing that the baby probably doesn’t have many years left in her, but knowing she was able to reunite with her family for the remainder of her years is just magical,” another commenter said.

A third person commented: “A dream come true for anyone who has lost a pet. This is so special!”
