Eagle-eyed And Just Like That… fans spotted what appeared to be a continuity error in the show’s most recent episode.
Newsweek contacted a spokesperson for And Just Like That… for comment via email on Tuesday.
The Context
The Sex and the City spinoff, which premiered in 2021, follows the lives of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis). It also features several newcomers, including Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker). SATC debuted in 1998 and ran for six seasons, ending in 2004.
What To Know
And Just Like That… is in the middle of its third season, with episode six airing on July 3. Following its conclusion, viewers were quick to point out what appeared to be a mistake.
In a scene, Lisa tells Charlotte that her father died of a stroke “out of nowhere.”
“Oh my God. When?” Charlotte asks. Lisa replies, “This afternoon.”
However, in season one, Lisa told Charlotte that her dad had died the year prior.
TikTok user @michaelleahcim001 posted a video of the two scenes that has since received 991,700 views and 43,700 likes. The TikToker wrote in the video’s on-screen text, “Has ‘And just like that’ completely forgot they killed Lisa’s dad off already?”
While some commenters posed the same question, others offered another theory, with user @asunshine213 writing, “She might have 2 dads lol.”
This isn’t the first time And Just Like That… has been called out over a continuity error or filming faux pas.
In a video posted on June 3, TikTok user @jnahaley highlighted a scene in which Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury) held an ice cream cone that didn’t seem to melt or move while she chatted with Carrie.
“Can we at least pretend we’re eating real gelato?” the user said in the video. “Watch. Watch as this actress just flings around this cone. I hate this show so much.”
In season two, Charlotte’s husband, Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler), said his mother had been dead for 10 years. However, SATC fans pointed out that if that were true, Charlotte would have been able to meet her mother-in-law, whose deathbed wish was that her son marry a Jewish woman.
User @andrewmcb wrote on X, formerly Twitter, at the time: “Harry’s mom died before he met Charlotte that was the whole reason she converted to Judaism so they could get married after he broke up with her because she wasn’t Jewish, it was a huge story arc in #SATC & not 1 person spotted this error?! Terrible writing #AndJustLikeThat.”
