EXCLUSIVE: Noah Taylor (Preacher, Peaky Blinders) and Millie Brady (Surface, The Last Kingdom) have been set to lead UK feature Trash TV, the debut movie of writer-director Danny Lee.

The film, which is now underway, follows a cynical talk show host whose life unravels over a single day on air. While celebrating his 4,000th episode, a tangle of corrosive personal history and bad professional choices collide, dragging Sandy and his show to depths he never contemplated. His young producer, Kate, must pick up the pieces and decide whether she’ll become the next link in the toxic chain of talk show television.

Rounding out the cast are Robert Cavanah (Lockerbie: A Search For The Truth), Rosie Fellner (The Trip To Italy) and Dave Johns (I, Daniel Blake).

The project will be shot entirely in the north east of the UK for producers Gail Lyon (Destination Wedding), Rosie Fellner (The Uninvited), Craig Conway (Gatecrash) and Kirsten Stoddart (Man Like Mobeen).

The film is the first in a partnership between Turnover XXV and Sunderland University, which are aiming to bring more production to the area.

Danny Lee is an LA and London-based writer-director. He studied at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and his first short film, Toto, screened at NYFF in 2018 while his second, Junior Bangers, played at Sundance in 2020 and was nominated for a Grand Jury Prize.

Noah Taylor is represented by Lou Coulson Associates, Linsten Management and Andrew Freedman Personal Manager. Millie Brady is represented by Independent Talent and WME.
