We love a fun summer style trend and as it turns out, so do our favorite celebs. The latest on our radar? Polka dots, which are currently hotter than the weather. So far, we’ve seen dotted looks everywhere, from Olivia Rodrigo’s shorts to Kylie Jenner’s bikini-and-capri matching set and Hailey Bieber’s cool capris.
Dua Lipa is the newest celeb to get on board, but with a summer manicure. On Instagram, Lipa shared her French manicure that strays from the classic white tip. Rather, it looks like she’s gone with black tips with a nude base for a moody mani. Then, she’s added white polka dots on top of the black Frenchie.
Our favorite part of this look? Her nails don’t all look the same. While some nails are covered in white dotting, some are dotted just on the black French tip. The black and white tuxedo look is an instant classic. There’s just something about a mismatched mani that’s so effortlessly cool girl.
Currently on break from her Radical Optimism world tour, it looks like Dua Lipa’s making the most of it. We initially spotted her tuxedo polka dot nails while on a summery Mediterranean vacation, and then we spotted them again in Paris, where she attended the Schiaparelli Haute Couture show July 7. For what it’s worth, she wore a white feathered gown to the show (bridal inspiration, anyone?). This, of course, all comes on the heels of her June announcement that she is engaged to now-fiancé Callum Turner.
Dua Lipa is isn’t the only one wearing polka dot nails this summer. Sabrina Carpenter showed off a white polka dot mani for the music video of her latest single, “Manchild‘” (courtesy of celeb nail artist Zola Ganzorigt) while Bieber has worn not one but two polka dot manicures (both a natural nail-inspired glass polka dot mani and a lemon drop mani.) Cardi B also wore a black and white set for July 4th weekend.
Though Dua Lipa didn’t share exactly who’s responsible for this trendsetting manicure, celeb nail artist Michelle Humphrey has done many of her iconic sets in the past, including her diamante floral nails and lilac aura nails.

Here’s the good news about polka dot nail art: It’s incredibly easy to get the look, even for beginner nail artists or at-home DIY fans. The one tool you’ll need is a nail dotting tool. After applying your base color, choose the nail polish you want your dots to be. Simply dip the dotting tool into the color (or colors, if you want multi-colored dots). We recommend painting a bit of the polish onto a metal pan or spatula so you don’t get too much product on the tool. Then, gently stamp the dotting tool onto your nails wherever you’d like the polka dots to be. Finish with a shiny top coat and you’re well on your way to nail twinning with the celebs.
