A panicked owner searching for her dog for over an hour couldn’t believe where she finally spotted him.
Owner Catherine is no stranger to her tiny dog trying to escape. She told Newsweek via TikTok that her Chihuahua is constantly on the move. It doesn’t matter if he’s inside or out; he’ll make it his mission to go explore.
“He’s so tiny, he can fit between our fence posts and escapes sometimes,” she said. “He’s smart, though, and never goes too far.”
Usually, the dog stays tucked into a blanket, the laundry or inside pillowcases when he’s inside. However, a recent incident left Catherine worried. She had zero clue where he managed to get. Catherine searched high and low for him. As time continued, more and more panic set in.
“I was super worried because I thought for sure he was outside somewhere—with the weather being warm, he likes to lie in the sun, so immediately I thought he got out somehow and had been missing for a while, or even worse, a bigger animal got him,” she said.
Luckily, relief set in about half an hour later. She revealed in her June 23 TikTok video under the account @catherinethejustokay24 that her dog didn’t get too far. The entire time she searched and called his name repeatedly, he stayed put and blended himself into a blanket on the couch, enjoying a quick nap. Viewers couldn’t even see his head until she walked closer to the chair.
And while Catherine confronted him for all the worry he caused, he stared at her blankly; he had zero clue what he had done wrong.
“He drives us nuts but we love him,” Catherine said.
Viewer Reactions
At the time of writing, the TikTok video reached over 469,800 views and 73,500 likes. Viewers immediately rushed to the dog’s defense, claiming it wasn’t his fault the blanket matched his black and white fur.
“He is completely camouflaged in that blanket,” a person commented, while a second pointed out: “He was a cozy burrito you cannot expect him to leave his tortilla.”
Another added: “In his defense, he didn’t buy the dog camo blankie.”
A fourth user wrote: “He was responding with blinks. It’s not his fault you didn’t see his response.”
